Lady GaGa Dance Costume part 1

Lady GaGa we do love your wacky costumes until we have to recreate them or something that looks GaGa-ish. The dance is going to look amazing.
My daughter is totally hating this costume & I'm not so happy sewing it as the thread keeps braking when I sew the foam. I have had to stop sew or I'll throw something & that's not so good.

These pink things are the skirt they need a silver waistband & cross over straps.

The sliver things are the shoulder pads, I think they look like tranies boobs.
It still needs the black leotard.
So here it is so far. I'll have it finished tomorrow.

There's a bear in there.

This is the bear costume I've been working on.
My Darling Daughter's dance school is in the Myer Christmas Parade as well as walking in the parade they are dancing on the Red Carpet too. So very excited for them.
So Melbourne people the parade starts at 11am & finishes at about 1pm. The parade starts at the top of Bourke St & ends at Queens St. Everyone come in and support this Melbourne institution.

How Cute is this costume I just hope it's not too hot on Saturday. The rest of the costumes are amazing.
It's going to be a great day.

A Story About a Top

This is the story of  lovely lace ( a curtain), a pattern from a time long ago(a time I remember like it was yesterday), a crafty mummy( that's me) & a fair maiden(my teenager).
The fair maiden was in a fit of despair she had nothing to wear, a trip to the shops was the only answer to her plight, "We need to go to Knox" she cried.  "Oh but sweet child" I replied "Never fear your darling mummy knows just what to do".(also the bank of mummy is closed) So to my trusty fabric stash & pattern box I went.
To find this Ace(cool 80's word) 1980's pattern & a lace curtain that I just couldn't part with.
So a very cool Lace Batwing top I created. The drama was averted & the mummy was once again the best mum in the world.
The End.

My book shelf

As you may or may not know I read a lot, I read very fast, I would say I read like a demon; that's if demons read. I think they do.
A little while ago I promised to write a book review or at least a recommendation every week. Well things got in the way and I didn't do it.
So now I'm going too.
I was going to list all the books I've read since the start of the year but then I looked around the house to the places where books live & decided that a picture would do.  Then I'll just pick one or a series and tell you about it.
How does that sound?

Making - Softies

I've been making more softies.
Tweaking the design a little,
it's been in my repertoire for a long long time but I can't tell you how long because that will give away too much.
Any way how cute is he/she?
I've listed this one in my Etsy Store.

My House

I took this picture of my House a little while ago. It's an original Hills Cottage built in 1930 as a holiday home.
We have done quite a bit of work to it but there is still a long way to go. X Kerri www.vintagesewandso.etsy.com

Quilts

Some Newbies from me, these quilts have bamboo batting, new & old fabrics. Some of the fabrics are re-purposed so the might be from a dress or a table cloth, some are vintage from my stash. The pink one is just the quilt top, can't decide on the backing.

Dessert Apple Tarte Tatin

Check this out. Tonight I decided to make an Apple Tarte Tatin for dessert.
It really wasn't that hard just a bit fiddly. I used a Donna Hay recipe.
They never fail.

Voila a Scarf (how to)

This scarf took me all of 20 min to make last night.
So simple to do, even if you are a beginner.
1st get a piece of fabric you like that is long enough to wrap around your neck with a bit of a drape and is about 40cm wide, this piece was an off cut (.70cents from Spotlight).
Fold it in half length ways with right sides facing out you are going to leave a raw edge. Then sew with a zig zag stitch to close the seam. You can leave it like this but I added some trim.

Add some lace trim to the ends.
Then some pom pom trim a long the length of the scarf stitch this down with a straight stitch and Voila a very cool new scraf.

Burgers for Dinner

On the weekend I decieded I wanted Burgers for dinner. They kids wanted takeaway.
I think my burgers are better and we had a few spare kids so takeaway was out of the question.

Today I will

Today I will start to get organized to list some things on Ebay.
I used to Ebay quite a lot that was before I found Etsy & Madeit.
There are many things to list things that are to good to just chuck out
or antique things that I have no room for. My house is the size of a
postage stamp and there are to many people living in this tiny space
for me to keep hording stuff.
So here goes. The light is a PMG workers light, I'm so tempted to keep it but no I will be strong.
